FAQ's

  • I'M HAVING PURE MAINTENANCE SERVICE MY HOME, WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE?

The home will need to be vacant during the dry fog process, so plan a place for you and your pets to be during the services. You will receive a message 24 hours prior to your service that will confirm your appointment and give basic instructions on how to prepare your home. They are simple things like open all closets, close all windows, put your fire alarm system in test mode, etc.

  • DO I NEED TO TAKE PAINTINGS AND WALL ART DOWN BEFORE THE TREATMENT?

Because of the dryness of the fog, Pure Maintenance of Colorado has never had an issue with wall art or paintings, but many people feel more comfortable taking expensive paintings down or covering them with a blanket. Brass and real silver might oxidize and tarnish. You can buff this out afterward, or you may wish to cover or remove those items.

  • WHAT ABOUT FRUIT OR OTHER FOODS LEFT OUT IN THE KITCHEN?

Food and semi-permiable food packaging should be removed or placed in a sealed container.

  • HOW LONG BEFORE I CAN RE-ENTER MY HOME?

Each job is different depending on the size of the home and scope of remediation, but a Pure Maintenance of CO employee will let you know how long the process will take when the treatment estimate is submitted to you. You may notice a different smell when you return, but that will dissipate over about 36 hours.

  • IS IT SAFE?

We're so glad you have this question. The chemicals we use are very strong, and can cause irritation to eyes, skin, and lungs if you are present while they are being used without proper personal protective equipment. By the time we permit you to return to your home or business after remediation, there is no danger to you or your pets. In fact, doctors refer their patients to us because the active ingredients of the chemical in our InstaPURE process (hydrogen peroxide and paracetic acid) are on the EPA's Safer Choice listings. Rest assured that all our staff are trained on safety and required to don the appropriate personal protective equipment when handling the chemicals used in our processes.

  • WILL IT GET BEHIND MY WALLS AND IN MY CEILINGS?

Our patented technology creates a 7.5 micron sized particle. A mold spore is between 4 and 30 microns. Thus, any place your average spore can fit, the fog particle will also fit. In special situations where there is a known issue behind a wall or in a ceiling and the drywall can be salvaged, we can poke a few 1/8 inch holes between the studs to treat inside the wall or ceiling cavity.

  • WILL I NEED TO CLEAN EVERYTHING AFTER THE TREATMENT?

Not at all. Our process leaves no visible or tangible residue, so your home and all items in it will be clean. Normal weekly cleaning to maintain a healthy, dust- and debris-free environment should continue as usual.

  • DOES IT KILL BUGS?

Insects certainly do not like the dry fog, and many customers report that it has killed pests, but the EPA has not registered our products as insecticides so we avoid making any claims about bugs.

  • WHAT WILL THE MOLD LOOK LIKE AFTER THE TREATMENT?

The stains that the mold has created will not go away with the dry fog alone, but we will include the removal of visible mold growth in our remediation estimate.

  • HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

The product used in the EverPURE process provides a verified protection for up to 90 days (3 months). However, if all moisture and water issues are resolved and the building remains clean, this is possibly a very permanent solution.  If necessary, the products may be reapplied every three months for continued protection (we recommend for high traffic areas) or if odors, mold, mildew, or staining appear again.

Please note that large or prolonged water intrusion events will overpower the antimicrobial and thus void any warranties.

  • HOW WILL I KNOW IF IT WORKED?

Your technician will take an air sample and other applicable sampling methods upon completing the treatment and send it to an independent third-party laboratory. We use an accredited mold lab that has no affiliation with any mold testing or mold remediation companies. About 3-4 business days after the treatment, you will receive the lab results via email.

*Faster results can be expedited for an additional charge.

In some situations, with especially sensitive occupants, we will include an additional culturable swab sample to test for viability of any mold in the settled dust.
